Location
The new airport, opened in 1995 is about 38 km or 30 miles from downtown Denver und therefore close to the neighbouring town Aurora. Access to the terminal is directly on the ring road E-470, that can be reached either on the Interstate I-76 or the Interstate I-70.
5 different buses operate a regular service between the airport and the various stops in the greater Denver-Aurora-Broomfield-Boulder area. These are the "Skyride", "Limited" and "Express" buses of the public transport provider RTD.
History
Denver International airport finally replaced the former Stapleton International Airport on 28.02.1995 and this makes it the youngest US-American airport. The airport is in actual fact nearer the city of Aurora than to Denver, and thus the entire Freeway Traffic passes by this city on the way to Denver Airport.
