Iberia Líneas Aéreas de España S.A. was founded on 28.07.1927 and is based in Madrid, Spain. Iberia is the largest Spanish airline and has its hub at the airport Madrid-Barajas. Since 1999 Iberia has been part of the airline alliance, Oneworld.
Iberia has a fleet of 19 Airbus A319, 45 Airbus A320, 19 Airbus A321, 21 Airbus A340-300 and 12 Airbus A340-600 (October 2009).
On mainland Spain, the Balearics and the Canaries, Iberia has a well-developed network of flights. Numerous destinations in Europe are also served. Long-haul flights are operated mainly to Latin America. Under the name of Iberia regional, Iberia operates regional and additional services with smaller aircraft in co-operation with Air Nostrum.
Iberia is market leader for routes between Europe and Latin America and flies to 100 destinations in 38 countries. Several airports in the United Kingdom are served and 17 in Latin America. Iberia also provides flights to 26 other cities in a codeshare system, for example with British Airways, CSA, Finnair, Iberworld, Lithuanian Airlines, Malev Hungarian Airlines, SN Brussels, Tarom and Ukraine Airlines in Europe; American Airlines, Avianca, Cathay Pacific, LAN, Mexicana, Taca and Tam Mercosur in America, El Al, Jal, Royal Jordanian and Syria Arab in the Middle and Far East and Royal Air Maroc in Africa.
