Fleet
Airlink currently (October 2007) owns 14 BAe Jetstream 41s, 3 BAe 146-200 and 5 Embraer ERJ 135LR aircraft in its fleet. Another 2 Embraer 170-100LR have been ordered.
History
The South African Airlink was founded in 1995, in conjunction with the merger of many private airlines in the country such as Midlands Aviation, Lowweld Aviation Services, Magnum Airways etc. The airline was founded in Johannesburg by Zimbabwe Airlink and Airlink Swaziland. In 1997, there followed an alliance with South African Airways and South African Express, but was abandoned in the spring of 2006.
Network
The network of the regionally operating Airlink is limited to airports in South Africa and the neighbouring states, served regularly from the base in Johannesburg and the two hubs in Cape Town and Durban. Some of these destinations are for example Pemba in Mozambique, Lusaka in Zambia, Manzini in Swaziland, Antananarivo in Madagascar, as well as Port Elizabeth, East London, Bloemfontein in South Africa.
