Aeromexico currently (October 2007) owns 32 Boeing 737-700, 6 Boeing 737-800, 2 Boeing 757-200, 3 Boeing 767-200, 1 Boeing 767-300, 4 Boeing 777-200, 3 McDonnell Douglas MD - 82, 2 McDonnell Douglas MD-83, 10 McDonnell Douglas MD-87 and 10 McDonnell Douglas MD-88 aircraft. 11 more Boeing 737-700 and 2 Boeing 787-8 have been ordered.
History
The largest Mexican airline, Aeromexico, was established on 15 September 1934 in Mexico City under the original name Aero-Aves de Mexico. The maiden flight departed on the route from Mexico City to the Acapulco resort. The aviation company was immediately able to consolidate and expand its position in Central America. In the 60s the airline took over all regional competitors and has since February 1972 been known under the new name Aeromexico.
Network
Aeromexico is the largest airline in the country, and provides regular flights to more than 100 different destinations worldwide from its base in Mexico City and other hubs in Guadalajara and Monterrey. Continental destinations in North and South America include New York, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Detroit and San Diego in the United States; Acapulco, Cancun, Durango, Ixtapa, Oaxaca and Zacatecas in Mexico; Buenos Aires, La Paz, Managua and San Pedro Sula in South and Central America. Transcontinental destinations are for example Tokyo, London, Frankfurt, Madrid, Rome and Amsterdam.
