The 77-year tradition ranks Air Serbia among Europe’s 16 oldest serving airliners. Entire history of Jat Airways may be divided into seven phases: 1. From founding of "Aeroput" in 1927, to beginning of WWII 2. From 1947, when Jat Airways was formed, to jet-engine fleet introduction in 1963 3. From arrival of first Caravelle - 63, to first intercontinental flights in early 1970s 4. From 1970, to arrival of first widebody DC-10 aircraft in 1978 5. From 1978, to new technology aircraft: B-737-300 introduction in 1984 6. From arrival of first B-737-300 aircraft, to break-up of former Yugoslavia, imposing economic sanctions against the FRY and Jat Airways flight ban in 1992 7. Company is currently involved in introducing new information technologies and technical-technological modernization.
