Airport Amsterdam Schiphol AMS
Amsterdam Airport is officially called Amsterdam Schiphol International Airport and is the main airport in the Netherlands. It is not only one of the largest airports on the European continent, but with more than 47 million passengers per year, also among the 20 largest in the world. The airport serves as the main hub for the Dutch airline company Amsterdam Airlines, Arkefly, KLM, Martinair and Transavia. The airport is gaining in popularity as a destination for people who are heading to Amsterdam for city breaks since Easyjet along with other low cost airlines now operate cheap flights to Amsterdam from many airports in Europe such as Barcelona, Bristol, London and Madrid.The airport consists of one terminal with three departure halls. Car: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is located 14 km (9 miles) south west of the city centre, near the community of Haarlemmeer. Passengers arriving by car should take the highway A4/E19 to exit 2 (Luchthaven Schiphol) and from there follow the signs to the airport parking.
Train: Rail passengers can travel directly by train to Schiphol Railway Station, which is directly under the Schiphol Plaza, the central hall of the terminal. Furthermore, from Amsterdam Centraal Station daily services to the airport are operated by NS trains or the bus routes 192, 195, 245 and 358.
Taxi: Travel taxis (shared) and private taxis are available at Amsterdam Schiphol.
Car hire: rental car companies with desks at the airport include Budget and Avis.
