The airport is 70 miles north west of the city and is part of the metrolpolitan region, operated by the state owned airport operator INRAERO. There are plans to expand this airport extensively in the coming years and on completion it will most probably be the largest airport in South America.

Location
First in use in 1936, the airport is about 6 miles south of the city centre in the district of Campo Belo. There are a number of bus routes that serve the airport from the inner city. Taxis are also available at the terminal.
