The fleet of the newly founded low -cost branch of Ryanair currently includes 5 machines of the type Boeing 737-700.
The low cost carrier Viva Aerobus, which was founded by the Irish company Ryanair and the Mexican bus company IAMSA, took up flight operations on 30th November 2006. Ryanair owns 49% of the share capital of the airline that is at present focusing purely on the inner Mexican market. The airline hopes to be able to carry over one million passengers in the first year. Fares are based on the already low-cost and competing airlines Avolar, Click Mexicana, Interjet and Volaris that are fighting the price war on the domestic Mexican market.
The Viva Aerobus currently fly from their home base Monterrey to a total of 19 different Mexican airports, including to Acapulco, Culiacan, Ixtapa, Merida and Veracruz. In the near future, the airline also plans to serve American airports.
