Useful information about the flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Dubai
A top travel destination for tourists worldwide
Dubai is a place that has a little bit of something for everyone. The spectacular architecture will amaze you, and awe-inspiring malls provide a luxurious shopping experience, while the Palm Island, the Palm Jumeirah, illustrates the creativity that makes Dubai unique.
Best season to visit for weather and events
Dubai has a subtropical climate all through the year, although temperatures drop to around 25 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius, from October till April, making the weather particularly pleasant. National Day falls on 2nd December and Islamic holidays occur at various times during the year. Eid is the most important of these and marks the end of Ramadan.
Tips before travel
All British citizens have to apply for 30 day visas upon arriving at the airport. Make sure you renew your visa if staying for longer than 30 days, as fines are charged for overstaying on an expired visa. Your routine vaccines and boosters must also be up to date before travelling. If your vacation coincides with Ramadan, note that you'll not be able to eat, drink, or smoke in public during the day. Visitors should also abide by the strict regulations regarding alcohol.
The cost of living is cheaper in Dubai than London and you'll be able to enjoy restaurant meals for 45% cheaper than UK costs. Electronics are also cheaper here, although imported goods will be more expensive. When shopping at souks, remember to haggle for to get the best deals. Dubai is at GST and 4 hours ahead of London.
Travelling to the city centre and accommodation rates
On arrival, the red line metro runs every 10 minutes from terminals 1 and 3 and the "green line" goes from the Airport Free Zone, near terminal 2. Both metros provide a reliable service from Saturday to Thursday from 6 am till 11 pm, and on Fridays from 1 pm till midnight. Prices to zone 1 are around 4 AED, and zone 2 and 3 cost approximately 6 AED and 8.50 AED. Red tickets are perfect for tourists, as they are convenient and very cheap, offering 10 journeys and lasting 90 days. The public buses 4, 11, 15, 33 and 44 provide a regular service, stopping at all terminals from 6 am till 10 pm.
Accommodation in Dubai is wide and varied, and if on a budget, you can book a bed in a hostel for around 100 AED. Single hotel rooms cost around 800 AED. Be sure to book your hotel accommodation in plenty of time during the peak season from September till May.
Dubai has excellent public transport options and you can purchase cheap single tickets for around 4 AED, for use on the metro or bus. Prices are 50% cheaper with a red ticket. Although cab prices are more expensive than public transport, they are still more affordable than London cabs, due to cheap petrol prices.
