The airport is on the mainland near the city of the same name, the northwestern Greek provincial capital of the west Macedonian prefecture, which borders on Albania. The airport is administered by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, which is also responsible for monitoring Greek aerospace.

Location
Opened in 1971, the airport is about 10 miles south of Kastoria, near the small town of Argos Orestiko. Take the National road 15 to exit 5 towards Argos Orestiko, the airport is then signposted. Between Kastoria and Argos Orestiko there is a local bus route that runs at 30 minute intervals during the day.
