Summer in Warsaw?

The best time to travel to Warsaw is between May to October. The summers can be very warm while the winters are very cold.

Don't miss out on the city's numerous holidays and festivals such as the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival held in March/April. There's also the Mozart Festival in June, free Chopin concerts in Lazienki Park during May-October and a Jazz Jamboree, the oldest festival in Poland.

Warsaw prices and useful facts

The cost of living in Poland is mainly cheaper than in the UK. Restaurant meals will cost you around 40 PLN, beer about 8 PLN and soft drinks approximately 4 PLN. Expect to pay in the region of 10 PLN for cheap meals. It's worth noting that drinking alcohol in public is prohibited.

Having arrived at Warsaw airport...

For transport from Chopin Airport to the city centre, take the central Warsaw bus 175 or 188, the nightbus is the N32, costing around 4.40 PLN. This takes about 30-45 minutes. Alternatively use the suburban train (SKM) line S2, S3 or the KML train which costs around 4.50 PLN with a journey time of approx 20-25 mins. There's also the option of travelling by taxi (cost is about 40 PLN), journey time around 25 minutes.

Hostel accommodation will set you back about 35 PLN per person, per night, while three star hotels cost in the region of 250 PLN per person/per night. Holiday rentals are available from around 170 PLN/night. During term breaks, student accommodation rooms can be found for approximately 42 PLN per night.

Warsaw has a good public transport network system, there are buses, trams, Metro and overground trains (SKM). Approx. public transport prices are as follows: short distance ticket (max. 20 mins) 3.40 PLN for a single ticket (75 min zone 1) around 4.40 PLN, single ticket (90 mins in Zones 1 and 2) 7 PLN. A day travel card (Zone 1) is about 15 PLN, a weekend pass (Friday 19h-Monday 8h, Zones 1 and 2) around 24 PLN, weekend group tickets 40 PLN. For taxis, prices start at approx. 8 PLN and then max. 3 PLN/km. The historical city centre can be easily explored on foot.
