The cost of living in Munich is considerably lower than London's, and eating out in restaurants can cost a fraction of general prices in the UK's capital. 


Travelling to the city, accommodation and local transportation 

The Lufthansa Airport bus takes about 45 minutes to travel to Munich's main station (Hauptbahnhof). The shuttle bus also travels centrally to the Munich exhibition centre (Messe Munchen) and the overground trains S1 and S8 travel to Ostbahnhof or the main station. Taxis take around 40 minutes to get to the city centre and cost around 50 euros. 

Hotels in Munich are expensive and cost approximately 100 euros a night, while hotels are much more affordable at around 15 euros per person a night. If travelling to Munich during the Oktoberfest, be sure to book in advance. Hotel rates in Munich are a lot higher around this time. 

Public transportation includes the metro, overground trains, buses and trams. You can purchase a day Travelcard when travelling around the inner city for around 6.20 euros. Single tickets cost approximately 2.70 euros. Munich taxis are considerably cheaper than London cabs.
