Travel tips for Kos Kos is a small Greek island in the eastern Aegean Sea. It is only 4 km from the Turkish mainland and well known for its many sandy beaches as well as its incredible Greek and Roman sites. This makes the island an ideal destination for anyone looking to relax in the sun.
The cultural centre on the island is the capital of Kos, in the north. Tranport options around the island of Kos are buses, taxis and hire cars. Hiring a car from the airport will be the most flexible option of travelling around allowing visitors to experience the hidden parts of the island at their own pace. If opting for public transport, there are buses to the city of Kos, Mastichari, Kardamena and Kefalos directly from the airport, the buses stop at the airport terminal building and tickets are purchased directly from the bus driver. Expect to pay around 3.50 euros for a one way ticket. Journey times into Kos city is 25 minutes.
Accommodation prices will vary according to the time of year: during off peak seasons holiday rentals can be very cheap. A hotel room will be priced on average at about 50 euros per person per night. An average price meal will be around 14 euros.
