Faro travel tips

Destination Faro

The Algarve's charming city Faro is often overlooked by travellers, although this destination actually has quite a lot to offer. The city has its fair share of elegant plazas, stunning marinas and beautifully manicured parks, with plenty of open spaces to relax in. Historic sites and theatres provide numerous entertainment and sightseeing options, while pulsating clubs and bars ensure night-time revellers are kept entertained.

Best time for Faro

Most tourists tend to visit the Algarve April-October and temperatures during the summer season are quite hot, usually between 27 to 35 degrees Celsius. Winters are pleasantly mild, with temperatures at around 8 to 17 degrees Celsius, which makes this destination a particularly attractive holiday option all year round. Although bear in mind that the peak season tends to get very crowded.

In mid-July, Faro hosts the International Motorcycle Rally and attendees get to enjoy bike shows, tattoo competitions and live concerts, while Faro's "birthday" is celebrated on September 7, to mark the anniversary of the city's official "city status". You'll get to enjoy 2 weeks of partying, music and exhibitions if your holiday coincides with this event.
