Tips and tricks to help you find cheap flights from Muscat to Dubai
Useful information about the flight from Muscat to Dubai
The lap of luxury in the heart of the Middle East
Dubai is one of the most spectacular of seven emirates that are a part of the United Arab Emirates. This luxurious location is well known for its sophisticated nightlife and spectacular shopping malls.
When to travel for weather and attractions
Dubai is a great destination to visit all year round for its subtropical climate. The weather gets even better between the months of October through to April, as temperatures are lower at 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. During the summer months, temperatures can rise to around 45 degrees Celsius. The main holiday in Dubai is Eid, which is an Islamic festival that marks the end of Ramadan, the fasting period. Dates for Ramadan and Eid vary from year to year. National Day falls on December 2nd each year.
Considerations before travel
Upon arrival, British Citizens must apply for a 30 day visa. If you plan to stay for longer than 30 days, make sure your visa is up to date, as fines are issued for invalid visas. Your boosters for vaccines must also be up to date.
If your holiday coincides with Ramadan, make sure you don't eat or drink outside during the day while others are fasting. The regulations on the consumption of alcohol in the UAE are very strict too.
Dubai is considerably cheaper than London, with restaurants charging around 45% less than those in the UK's capital. Electronics are also cheaper in Dubai, although European imported goods are more costly. When shopping in the souks, remember to haggle for the best prices. Dubai is at GST (Gulf Standard Time), which is UTC/GMT+4 and three hours ahead of London.
Local information transportation and accommodation
At Dubai International's airport terminals 1 and 3 you can catch the Red Line Metro, which runs at intervals of 10 minutes. Alternatively, catch the Green Line metro at the Airport Free Zone near terminal 2. Both metros offer services from Saturday till Thursday between the hours of 6 am and 11 pm, and Fridays from 1 pm till midnight. Approximate prices for zone 1, 2 and 3 are 4 AED, 6 AED and 8.50 AED, respectively. Tourists are advised to purchase the Red Ticket, as it's cheap and convenient. It's valid for 90 days and provides 10 journeys. The buses 4, 11, 15, 33 and 44 pick passengers up at all terminals between 6 am and 10 pm.
You can rent out an affordable bed in a hostel for around 100 AED, and single hotel rooms cost around 800 AED. Be sure to book your accommodation early during the peak season, which falls between the months of September till May.
Public transport is cheap too, at 4 AED for a single ticket on metros and buses. Petrol is inexpensive in the UAE, which means taxi prices are less costly than those in London, although cabs are still more expensive than public transportation.
