The best time to travel to Islamabad is from November-April when the weather is mild. There are five seasons here, winter is from November-February with the coolest month in January. Spring is from March-April and summer May-June. The hottest month is June, average temperatures 38 degrees Centigrade. The monsoon season is July-August, July being the wettest month. Autumn lasts from September to October. There are many holidays and festivals like the Muslim festivals Eid el-Fitr and Aid el-Adha, for which dates vary from year to year.

Entry requirements and basic facts

British passport holders need a visa and passports must be valid for at least six months when applying. Airport to city and other useful information

There are no buses from the airport to central Islamabad although there are shared Suzuki cars. A taxi costs approximately Rs 400, however hailing a taxi outside the airport turns out cheaper. When leaving, arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight is due to leave enough time for check-in and security at this very busy airport. Guest house and cheap hotel rooms are around 1000 PKR. More luxurious accommodation is about PKR 2200 per night. Within Islamabad the minibus public transport is cheap and fast. If you decide to take a black and white taxi, make sure you agree on the final price before starting the journey. A monthly travel card for public transport is about Rs 3500.
