The capital of southern France – Nice has lots of to offer

Nice is a bustling city in the south of France. The miles of promenade at the back of the beach attracts visitors who stay for the weekend, a few days or weeks at a time. Nice has hundreds of cafés, restaurants, art galleries, museums and shopping - but just strolling round the streets is a pleasure to be enjoyed as well.


The best time to visit Nice

From May to October the sun is strong and the sky is clear in Nice. Over the winter the temperature stays pleasant but it is not warm enough to sunbathe. In February there is the Carnaval de Nice which lasts for 14 days and there are colourful parades, live music sessions and daily events. The Nice Jazz Festival is held on the first two weeks of July - this event has been running since 1948 and is considered one of the best of its kind. For an unforgettable festival, look out for the Fête Nationale Française which is marked on the 14th July each year with concerts and fireworks.


A few facts of interest before you travel to Nice

Groceries are usually cheaper to buy than they are in the UK. Tuck into lunch at a café for around EUR15, with a beer costing roughly EUR 5 and coffee 3 euros or so.

There are easy transport links between Nice airport and the centre. Express coaches 98 or 99 costs approximately EUR 6 each way, and the taxi fare is around EUR 30 with an additional charge at nighttime.
