Useful information about the flight from Lahore to Dubai
Dubai, a jewel in the Middle East
Dubai is a fascinating city that blends extravagance and Middle Eastern influences. From breathtaking landmarks to Arabic traditions, visitors enjoy a wide range of sights and activities in the popular hub of the United Arab Emirates.
Best of Dubai's festivals and weather
The subtropical climate in Dubai means that temperatures rise as high as 45° C in summer. The best months to visit are therefore between October and April, when the temperatures range between 25°C and 35°C. When it comes to holidays and festivals, the National Day is on 2nd December and various Islamic holidays are celebrated all through the year. While the dates vary, Eid is the most important religious festival, marking the end of Ramadan. The latter starts in the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.
Important information before your trip
British citizens need to apply for a 30-day visa upon arrival and there are fines for outstaying visas. Before visiting, travellers need to make sure their normal vaccines are all up to date. During the month of Ramadan, eating, drinking and smoking in public are forbidden before sunset. The regulations on drinking alcohol in the UAE are also very strict at all times. Overall, the cost of life in Dubai is cheaper than in London. Restaurant prices are around 45% lower on average and electronics are cheaper. However, European imported goods are more expensive. Haggling in souks is expected and it is also a great way to save money. Dubai is on GST (Gulf Standard Time), which is 3 hours ahead of London.
Transport and accommodation on arrival
At the airport, the red line metro stops at Terminals 1 & 3 every 10 minutes, while the green line stops at the Airport Free Zone near terminal 2. Both metros run from Saturday to Thursday between 6am and 11pm, and on Fridays from 1pm to midnight. Tickets cost about 4 AED for 1 zone, 6 AED for 2 zones, with 3 zones costing approximately 8.50 AED. Buses 4, 11, 15, 33 and 44 also stop at all terminals between 6am and 10 pm. Tourists can buy a red ticket, a cheap and convenient alternative for up to 10 journeys, valid for 90 days. Budget accommodation is available in Dubai, with beds in hostels starting at 100 AED per night. Single hotel rooms cost around AED 800 a night. It is recommended to book early during peak season, between September and May. Public transport is cheap, with single bus or metro tickets at around 4 AED. It is even 50% cheaper with the red ticket. While taxi prices are higher than public transport, they are still cheaper than in the UK because of the low price of petrol.
