Prague visit

The wonderful city of Prague in the Czech Republic is one of the world's most popular holiday destinations. It's a charming city with many exciting historical attractions, theatres, churches and the famous Astronomical Clock in the Old Town Square.


Prague at its best

The climate in Prague is similar to the UK. The best time to travel is during May until September when the weather is warmer and there are many festivals to enjoy. Throughout the year you can see art exhibitions, music festivals, sporting events and theatre festivals. There are also wine, beer and street food festivals too. Christmas and Easter take place at the same time as in the UK.


 

Travel arrangements

Before travelling why not arrange to visit interesting areas like Holeovice, Bubeneč & Dejvice. There's also Smíchov & Vyehrad for pubs while ikov & Karlin are very lively. Bubeneč & Dejvice are ideal for luxury hotels and splendid restaurants. The cost of living in Prague is much cheaper than in the UK. Expect to pay around 120 CZK for lunch, 35 CZK for beer and about 30 CZK for soft drinks. The food in the supermarkets is also a lot cheaper than in Britain.


Prague: useful info

From Prague International Airport to the city centre via shuttle bus costs about 150 CZK for a single ticket. The journey time is around 30 minutes. Use bus number 100 to the metro station "Zličín" Metro B or bus number 119 to "Nádraí Veleslavín" Metro A. The night bus 510 ticket price is about 32 CZK per single with a journey time of around 90 minutes during the day and 20-30 minutes at night. 

Expect to pay in the region of 600 CZK for a taxi into the city centre. 

Hostel accommodation is from about 250 CZK per night while three star hotels are around 600 CZK per night per person. 

There's a wide range of public transport in Prague from metros, buses, trams to ferries. Single fare prices depend on the number of zones travelled. Two zones cost about 12 CZK and are valid for 15 minutes while 11 zones will cost 84 CZK, valid for 300 minutes. Single all zone tickets are around 32 CZK (for 90 minutes) and 24 CZK (for 30 minutes). A day travel card is approximately 110 CZK; a 3 day pass about 310 CZK. 

Taxi fares in Prague cost about 120 CZK for 3 kms then around 30 CZK per km after that.
