Visitors can enjoy jeep safaris or bus trips to the top of Pico del Teide with its mysterious lunar landscape and snow-capped peaks, or explore underwater on scuba-diving holidays. Best time to travel to Tenerife for its attractions and weather
Tenerife is the perfect year round destination with good weather in all months, although North Tenerife is slightly cooler and wetter than the South. Flight prices are lower in the Winter months, but hotel prices peak then. For the most reliable weather and lower accommodation prices, September is the best month. February and March is when carnivals are held in the towns of Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz. The whole island celebrates "Dias de las Islas Canarias" on the 30th May, when events are held, which include music, dance and festivals. 12th October is "Dia de la Hispanidad" or Columbus Day, a Spanish National holiday with events and parades.
Important things to know before you travel
For lively resorts and beaches visitors should head to the South of the island, to the towns of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas. The West coast is quieter, while the North of Tenerife is ideal for surfing, hiking and other outdoor activities.
